my name

So whats my problem? My parents gave me a perfectly wonderful first name when I was born. I even had fun growing up changing the spelling of the most common nickname. Remember all the variations: y, ie, i? Yet, in 1985 I decided to drop it and use my middle name.
Those of you who were there remember the confusion it caused. having to learn to call me Marie instead of D----. It even took me awhile to learn to answer to it. I just needed to mark a transition in my life. Some pretty significant things happened in 1984 and early 1985. I realized I needed to acknowledge that I was a very different person than I had been, hence a new name to start the 1985-86 school year. (Thats also when I made the decision to grow out my hair. I had my last short cut a few days before school started and it hasn't been short since then.)
Then I went off to college where everyone knew me as Marie and decided it wasn't enough. I wanted that initial D back. Partly it had to do with my discovery of numerology & other weird -ologies. Mostly I just wanted to annoy everyone by making them learn another name (just kidding!). So you all learned, or tried to learn, to say D. Marie and I learned to answer to D and managed to get my drivers license in my new name.
A few of you know that in 1993 I decided to change my name yet again. This time to DMarie Adame. There were spiritual, numerological, and cultural reasons for this decision. I have not had the money or time to make the change legal, but there are many people who know me as DMarie and I have published a few things as DMarie Adame. I don't know if Ill ever get around to making it legal, but it will continue to be my artistic name and the one my friends use.
Thanks to everyone who survived all the name changes and were so patient about learning what name Im using this year.
....did I forget to mention my confirmation name is Elizabeth???
